A ghost of a child was photographed in Britain's Hampton Court

AS one of Britain’s most haunted buildings, Hampton Court has seen its fair share of spooky visitors,

Can you see the ghostly figure next to the dress in this picture?

Yet palace bosses have been left puzzled by a photo that appears to show the ghostly image of a waif-like child roaming one of the rooms.

The snap was taken by
reporter James Fielding during a special sleepover arranged last weekend to mark the Tudor building’s 500th anniversary.

Nothing was visible at the time except four mannequins in Georgian dress but looking back on his iPhone later, James noticed a strange mist hovering just above the floor.

On closer inspection he made out what appears to be a faint outline of a small child in an old-fashioned white nursery gown.

Ghostly children in Tudor dress are said to be among the many apparitions who wander the Royal building at night while two youngsters who drowned in a lake reputedly haunt the grounds.

The image was taken in the Queen’s Privy Chamber, where the Prince and Princess of Wales would receive courtiers in the absence of King George I.

Perhaps Hampton Court’s most notorious phantom, however, is that of Henry VIII’s fifth wife, Catherine Howard, whose restless spirit is rumoured to run screaming along the aptly named Haunted Gallery.
She was beheaded in 1542 after being accused of adultery and treason.

James said: “I originally took the photo because I thought the mannequins and costumes looked creepy.
“As I looked at the image a little closer, though, I saw what appeared to be an outline of something near to one of the dresses, possibly a small child.

Did a ghost make this pint explode in an Irish Pub (video)

Some spots in Ireland are known for their ghostly apparitions, but the locals at Barney Mac’s pub, in Drogheda, County Louth, got the fright of their lives when they saw a pint of Smithwick's explode right in front of their eyes.

This CCTV, posted to YouTube by BroadSheet.ie, shows the locals' confusion as a pint of Smithwick's explodes. The pint, as you can see, is unattended and undisturbed on the table.

Of course the breakage, it can be reasoned, was caused by the fact that glass was very hot coming out of the dishwasher before the very cold beer was poured into the glass causing the glass to contract and break.

However, we prefer the owner of Barney Mac’s explanation that the pub is haunted by the ghost of former patron Joe Murphy. Apparently Murphy was a Beamish stout man. Maybe he took offense to Smithwick's being drunk.

Haunted Dolls are a thing now,..and they come at a price

Some childhood symbols straddle the line between adorable and terrifying. Like clowns. Or Furbys.

Some dolls fit the category, too, with spooky eyes that seem to move or a porcelain pallor. They're not all Chucky, but some of them just don't seem quite right.

Listener Anne McLaughlin grew up with a cabinet full of dolls — including a pretty dancer doll and a set of wooden nesting dolls. But one, she says, stood out.

"One of the dolls in the cabinet was absolutely terrifying," she says. "Very tall, thin doll, and her face was not a doll face. It was a grown woman, so she didn't have big eyes she didn't have a smile. She had tiny little eyes. She always looked like she stepped out of one of those New Orleans ghost stories."

The lady doll was also a music box, and it spun slowly to music when wound. The doll gave Anne the creeps.

So one night, when she was about 10, McLaughlin thought to herself: "I'm going to take her out of the cabinet just to prove that I'm not scared of this doll" — even though she was very scared of it.
So she wound up the doll, left it on the bedside table and walked away. Suddenly there was a crash.

"And right when I turned around, she had just walked to the side of the bedside table, and fallen to the floor with a big crash, " McLaughlin can't even finish her sentence. "I went and slept with my parents."

Photographer captures ghost on camera in Massachusetts

TOWNSEND -- A local photographer got a surprise when he took a look at the photographs he had taken at Harbor Pond at dusk.

All but one of the images showing the dam and cooperage were what he expected when he got home and uploaded the files. The other picture caught his eye when it flashed on the computer screen.
In only that one image, lights shine through a window of the 18th century cooperage.

Tyler Kimbar, a Townsend photographer, took pictures in a series of three on Sunday, March 12. Each set of three pictures was taken within five seconds. Kimbar intended to combine the different exposures into one composite image to get the best color saturation.

In a set taken 10 minutes later, the first and third photos were unremarkable. The middle photo is quite different. Three lights appear in the window nearest the dam. Kimbar referred to those lights as a ghost figure.

"There were no cars going by and nobody was in the building because it was closed," he wrote in an email. "I was also the only car in the parking lot, so I can't explain where the light/figure came from."

No one else who was contacted could explain the lights.

"I have a table that's sitting in front of the window," said Laura Bradley, who opened an antiques co-op in the Cooperage in 2009. "There's no lamp there, no candle, no nothing.

World Trade Center rubble said to be haunted by female ghost.

She was there to protect and serve.

A number of workers at the Fresh Kills landfill in Staten Island who were sifting the rubble from the 9/11 attacks reported seeing a female ghost holding a tray of sandwiches, a new book reveals.

“I thought she was trying to help us, being first responders,” said retired NYPD Lt. Frank Marra, author of “From Landfill to Hallowed Ground.”

The spectre was African-American, dressed in white, in the style of a Red Cross worker during World War II, Marra recalled.

Marra said he saw her a few times, always from more than 50 yards away. And each time, as he strained to make sense of what he was seeing — the ghostly lady vanished.

“But you could clearly see it was a person,” he said.

Now retired and living in Millstone, NJ, Marra, 48, said he initially buried the memory of the spirit.
But he remembered in 2013, when he was conducting interviews for the book.

A retired crime-scene detective asked him, “You ever hear the stories about the old Red Cross worker trying to serve sandwiches and coffee out by the sifters?”

“It hit me like a ton of bricks — I had put that dormant. And it just reminded me that I remembered seeing her,” Marra said.

Other cops also witnessed this apparition and other strange things, including shadows and “large black masses,” claimed Marra, who was the supervisor of the World Trade Center vehicle impound section of the landfill and is the son of a high-ranking NYPD chief.

Teenager spots a strange ghostly figure in a Snapchat selfie

Bethany Harvey, from Northern Ireland, captioned her Snapchat selfie 'photo bombed!' after her sister jumped into the background (left), but another ghostly figure also seems to have got in on the act (right)
From cute animals to Benedict Cumberbatch and even the Queen, it seems that virtually everyone has managed to get in on the photobombing craze.

And now it seems even the spirits of the dead are making an appearance after two teenagers spotted what seems to be a ghostly girl in the background of a Snapchat selfie.

Bethany Harvey, from Northern Ireland, took a picture of herself, her baby nephew and her sister to show friends, but later noticed what seemed to be a little girl's torso in the background.

Closer inspection revealed what looked like a young girl wearing a purple dress sitting down with her hands folded neatly in her lap.

Miss Harvey told the Daily Mirror: 'I was taking a picture of my nephew and I, but my sister jumped into the background so I captioned the picture "photo bombed!"
'A friend of mine came to my house that night and pointed out what looks to be a woman with her hands folded on her knees in the background, baring in mind the picture was taken facing the living room door.

'Although we can't see the face of the figure the rest of it is as clear as day. There was nobody else in the living room at the time, except for the ghost girl in the purple dress.'

She added that she is now terrified of going into her living room in the dark in case she catches another glimpse of the spectre.

Celebrate St. Patricks Day in America's most haunted Irish pub

America's most-haunted pub was once a mortuary with embalming and crematorium rooms.

Between 1903 to 1923, the Butterworth & Sons mortuary was described as, “The city’s first place for comprehensive death-related services from corpse retrieval to coffin sales.” In other words, it was the Walmart of death.

Today it's Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub in Seattle, Washington.

As the mortuary, it was no stranger to handling tragic and sometimes violent deaths, many of the bodies they prepared were victims of mining accidents, drownings, diphtheria, horrible sanitation, and of course the everyday violence of early 1900s Seattle. So after 20 years of death, it’s no surprise that the building has developed quite the paranormal reputation.

As soon as the restaurant opened, owners, staff, and patrons began experiencing strange, unexplainable things that, over the years, have become a daily occurrence. It’s not uncommon for glasses to slide across the bar and smash onto the floor, or for guests to hear mysterious footsteps and see dark shadows from the corner of the room.

Some of the most famous ghosts that are said to haunt Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub include the spirit of the Tall Man, described as having very long thin hands, and who disappears right before your eyes.

Another famous spirit is a little girl, often spotted sitting quietly at the top of a staircase. No one know who or what she’s waiting for, and when you turn to ask she’s it's already too late because she's gone.

Toronto Raptors Lou Williams doesn't stay with team in haunted Oklahoma hotel

Lou Williams didn’t stay with the Raptors in Oklahoma City during their recent three-game road swing.

When the team charter arrived at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel last weekend, he jumped in a cab and headed to a different place to stay the night.

No, it wasn’t a case of not wanting to associate with his teammates.

The veteran NBA guard just has a preference when it comes to hotels. He prefers one that isn’t haunted.

The Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City has that reputation in NBA circles. So, too, does the Pfister in Milwaukee.

Both are older hotels. The Skirvin was built in 1911. The Pfister predates even that, opening its doors in 1893.

The Skirvin is believed to be spooked by a former maid who had an affair with the hotel’s owner and became pregnant. As the story goes, in order to keep the affair a secret, the owner imprisoned her in a 10th-floor room, where she eventually gave birth and fell into a depression when, even after the birth, she was still denied her freedom.

As legend goes, the maid jumped to her death one day, taking the baby with her.

There have been multiple accounts over the years of men claiming to have been joined in the shower by a naked female or propositioned by a female voice while alone in their rooms.

Thomas Edison planned on talking to the dead

One of Thomas Edison's little-known ambitions was to build a device to hear the voices of the dead, according to a nearly lost chapter of the inventor's memoirs which is being republished in France this week.

The American, who developed the phonograph and is often cited, inaccurately, as being the first to come up with the light bulb, wanted to create a sort of "spirit phone" that recorded the utterances of departed souls.

Nikola Tesla was one amazing inventor. More than 100 years later, his visionary work remains essential today for life as we know it. Trace shows us some of Tesla's best inventions, and proves why he was such a badass.

Edison (1847-1931) detailed his efforts and they were published posthumously in 1948 as the final chapter of his "Diary and Sundry Observations."

Strangely, though, his account of dabbling in what would today be considered the occult was expunged in subsequent English-language editions of the book.

Some in America thought the idea was maybe a hoax or a joke by Edison, as no design for a "spirit phone" has ever been uncovered.

But in France, the 1949 French translation of inventor's original "Diary" was preserved intact -- with the missing final chapter.

Why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky

Today, people around the globe will feel uneasy about getting out of bed, leaving their homes, or going about their normal daily routines, all because of a superstition. These unfortunate folks suffer from  “paraskavedekatriaphobia,” a common neurosis familiar to us all—the fear of Friday the 13th. But just where did this superstitious association come from, and how did it catch on?

The truth is that no one is absolutely sure where the idea that Friday the 13th is unlucky originated. Donald Dossey, the founder of the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina suspects the fear can be traced back to a Norse myth about twelve gods who had a dinner at Valhalla—the fabled hall where legendary Norse heroes feasted for eternity after they died—that was interrupted by a thirteenth guest, the evil and mischievous god Loki. According to legend, Loki tricked Höðr (the blind god of winter and son of Odin, the supreme god in Norse mythology) into shooting his brother Baldr (the benevolent god of summer who was also Odin’s son) with a magical spear tipped with mistletoe—the only substance that could defeat him. Thus the number thirteen was branded as unlucky because of the ominous period of mourning following the loss of such powerful gods by this unwanted thirteenth guest.

For whatever reason, among many cultures, the number twelve emerged throughout history as a "complete" number: There are twelve months in a year, twelve signs of the zodiac, twelve Gods of Olympus, twelve sons of Odin, twelve labors of Hercules, twelve Jyotirlingas or Hindu shrines where Shiva is worshipped, twelve successors of Muhammad in Shia Islam, and twelve tribes of Israel. In Christianity, Jesus was betrayed by one of his twelve Apostles—Judas—who was the thirteenth guest to arrive for the Last Supper. Surpassing the number twelve ostensibly unbalances the ideal nature of things; because it is seen as irregular and disrespectful of a sense of perfection, the number thirteen bears the stigma of misfortune and bad luck we know today.

Why Friday?

Woman claims mysterious 'ghost girl' appeared in family portrait

Social media users are claiming that the white shape at the back of the image, circled, shows a ghostly faceA chilling image has surfaced which claims to show the ghost of a young drowning victim.

The spine-tingling photograph was posted on Facebook by Australian Kim Davison, but things began to get really spooky when it was revealed that a little girl died in the same spot 100 years ago.

Ms Davison, from Queensland, posted the image, which was taken in 2014, on the 'Toowoomba Ghost Chasers' Facebook page. It appears to show two women and four children swimming.

However Ms Davison and Jessie Lu, the other adult in the photo, are adamant they were with only three children when the photo was taken at Murphy's Hole in Lockyer River, south-east Queensland.

When examining the photo later, they were all shocked to see a fourth face in the background.

The face that can be seen appears to be very white with dark eyes and two shapes on either side of its head.

'At the time of taking this photo there was nothing between us,' Ms Davison insists.

'I'm holding the little girl and that white head next to me with horns is not human, I can promise you that,' Ms Davison said.

'Its fingers are on my shoulder and on my daughter's arm. They are long skeletal type fingers.'

The story became even spookier when researchers uncovered the story of Doreen O'Sullivan, a 13-year-old girl who drowned in the same creek in 1913.

A Brisbane Courier newspaper clipping from November 22 1913 has a death notice for a little girl who died in that watering hole.

Grainne Dowdall's sister Sinead explained that the 14-year-old was just sending a standard picture to her friend from an UPSTAIRS bedroom in their Newry home when the creepy presence was spotted.

It looks like a ghostly female figure is peering in the window as the picture is being taken.

Sinead said: "It was sent on Snapchat and her friend saw it straight away, took a screenshot and sent it back in shock."

She added that the family have started to notice strange happenings at their Co Down home in recent months.

"It's so creepy. Our house is only around 10 years old but we have had stuff happen in the past couple of months like noises and footsteps and people being tipped."

Utah officers say mysterious voice called them to rescue baby (video)

Four police officers rushing to an overturned car in an icy Utah river say they all heard the same thing: a mysterious female voice calling out “Help,” from inside the vehicle.

But the driver of the car was dead and her 18-month-old daughter, while still alive, couldn’t have been the speaker.

It was a mystery that continues to haunt the officers – and may never be explained.

Officer Jared Warner of the Spanish Fork Police Department was one of the first who came to the rescue of tiny Lily Groesback, who was strapped in a seat in the back of her mother’s car, which was precariously hanging upside down in 40-degree water.

“We’ve gotten together and just talk about it and all four of us can swear that we heard somebody inside the car saying, ‘Help,’” Warner told Deseret News.

But when they flipped over the midsized car, they discovered a 25-year-old woman dead in the front seat and Lily unconscious in her car seat.

“The only people in there were the deceased mother and the child,” Officer Bryan Dewitt told the paper.

Officer Tyler Beddoes said they can't explain it, but have no doubt they heard it.

"It wasn't just something that was just in our heads. To me it was plain as day cause I remember hearing a voice," Beddoes told the Deseret News. "I think it was Dewitt who said, 'We're trying.

We're trying our best to get in there.' How do you explain that? I don't know," he said.

The legend of the SS Ourang Medan Ghost Ship (video)

The SS Ourang Medan was a Dutch cargo ship that sent out a distress call, but by the time help arrived the entire crew were dead with their eyes open, staring ahead with a look of incredible horror on their faces. As she was about to be towed to land the ship exploded, and sank to a watery grave – refusing to give up any answers as to what happened on her salty decks.

The first mention of the SS Ourang Medan and all its suddenly dead crew was in a periodical published by the United States Coast Guard. Allegedly, the ship sent out a distress call, it went something like this:

"All officers including captain are dead lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead." This message was followed by indecipherable Morse code then [the words] "I die."

Help arrived as you can imagine – and only after a few hours. It was too late. Everybody on board was dead. As the rescue party boarded they saw a gruesome sight – the entire crew was at the doorway of decomposition with their eyes open, their arms outstretched, and their lifeless faces twisted in absolute horror. The ship’s dog was dead as well – found with a tooth-filled snarl on its lips.

The Medan itself was completely undamaged, and the sailors had no visible wounds to explain their

mass-demise. Before the boat could be explored further flames exploded out of the cargo hold, and the would-be rescuers were forced back to their own vessel. Then the death-ship exploded, and sank out of man’s reach. Had the other ship’s crew not managed to cut the ropes holding the two barges together, perhaps both would have plunged together.

There are several theories as to how all those men died – ranging from the inhalation of carbon monoxide to some kind of nefarious UFO intervention. In the end, nobody really knows what happened.

You know what else nobody knows? If the Ourang Medan ever concretely existed or not. As we already stated, the first mention of the Medan was in a publication put out by the US National Coast Guard. One would think that meant sources were well documented. But perhaps this isn’t the case.

Owner wants to turn Infamously Haunted Waverly Hills asylum into hotel (video)

The ink is barely dry on a zoning application and development plan to transform the famed, and supposedly haunted, Waverly Hills into a hotel and conference center with a bottling and restaurant facility.
The application begins a lengthy process, but the reaction to the idea has been quick.

Over the years, Waverly Hills has gone from ruin to beautifully restored. Now that there is talk of making it a hotel and conference center, the question is; if they build it, will they come?

"Well, it's neat. It's a part of Louisville's history, so it's something interesting to go see and be a part of," said James Blevins, who wants to see Waverly built into a hotel.

"I think it will draw a lot of people and a lot of attention just for the so-called fear factor," said Jenny Garrett, who also wants the hotel built.

And that's surely what the owners of Waverly Hills want, as they have just submitted a zoning application and development plan to change the use of Waverly Hills.

"In order to run a hotel, convention center and bottling facility, they are going to need to change the zoning on that site," said Connie Ewing with Metro Planning and Design Services.

And it's a long, five-month process for the 50-plus acres involved in the plan. A plan that includes adding sidewalks, blacktop, parking lots, new utility poles plus additional sewer and water usage that will need Metropolitan Sewer District and Water Company approval.

Hiker records footage of Bigfoot in Utah (video)

Hiker captures Bigfoot on video in Utah mountains
A hiker recently posted a video on YouTube claiming that he captured a video of Bigfoot while exploring the Utah mountains. In the footage, the hiker seems to be startled by a strange figure that he found lurking in a wooded area across from where he was hiking, the Belfast Telegraph reported today.

YouTube user Mountain Hiker uploaded a video of what he believes to be Bigfoot last week. He claims that he was hiking in the Utah mountains when he saw the legendary creature.

"I was up American Fork Canyon near Tibble Creek Reservoir. I thought I saw something a few minutes before when I was a little further away. It kinda scared me but I figured it was probably just a moose, elk, or maybe a bear. The area is pretty forested and I wasn't quite sure where the animal was. I only saw it for a second before it disappeared behind some trees. I had to walk through some snow and trees to get to where I start the recording," the hiker said.

Another sighting of ghostly woman in a floral dress in England

A third person has come forward with details of ghostly sightings in the village of Bretby.

Matthew Roberts contacted the Telegraph after we carried two stories about a woman in an old-fashioned floral dress being seen in the village by two separate readers. The readers believed they had seen a ghost.

Matthew said: "I used to work on Bretby Business Park a few years ago and heard several stories while I was there about a ghostly woman in a floral dress.

"The first story I heard was about a woman wearing a floral dress who walked up to one of the security guards and asked for directions to Stapenhill. It was before Christmas and the weather hadn’t been very good.

"She was very pale and had jet black hair. The guard gave her the directions and asked if she was OK. She looked very cold and was dressed strangely for the weather.

"The woman then simply turned around and walked off without saying anything. When they were looking at the CCTV sometime later the guard could be seen but there was no sign of this woman."

A ghost caught on security video at Disneyland, 6 years ago (video)

This is pretty spooky!

Footage shows a “ghost” walking and playing around at night in Disneyland. The video suggests that the ghost can walk on grass and on sidewalks without tourists present.

According to the Huffington Post, the ghost even appears to walk on water.

The video was originally posted in 2009, but it has recently gone viral after being posted in a Reddit thread.

“Maybe they were still re-using vhs tapes and the static image came through from previous recordings. Like a lone janitor or something. It is compelling in any case,” speculated Reddit user Macaface.

Another theory is that the ghost is that of Walt Disney.

Walking Dead Ghost Town Up For Sale On Ebay (video)

(CNN) — The faded downtown of a small town in Georgia, made famous by an appearance on “The Walking Dead,” can now be yours for the right price.

Nine buildings in downtown Grantville, Georgia are for sale on eBay and the seller tells CNN it’s a bargain.
Jim Sells, Grantville’s former mayor, bought the buildings in a foreclosure deal about four years ago during the recession. Sells and another investor are now putting them on the market for the starting bid of $680,000.

The town was the setting for “Clear,” an episode in season three of the hit AMC television show in which protagonist Rick Grimes returns to his abandoned hometown to look for weapons. A Facebook page offers walking tours of the town’s filming locations.

But soon that won’t be Grantville’s only claim to fame, Sells says.

The former mayor says that four movies are slated to be shot in Grantville in upcoming months.

Since the sale was first announced, Sells says thousands of people have checked out the listing. He says potential buyers are asking “lots of serious questions about revenues and property taxes.”

Sells says Grantville has plenty of potential but has been overlooked by developers.

“It’s a great picturesque little town,” he says. “This is a bargain price.”
