Scientists have created "Zombie cells", get your survival kits ready

Biological researchers have created dead 'zombie' cells in the lab which outperform living cells.

Seriously.

A team at Sandia National Laboratories and the University of New Mexico have innovated a technique whereby mammalian cells are coated with silica to form a near-perfect replicas.

The silica replicants can survive greater pressures and temperatures than flesh, and perform many functions better than the original cells did when alive.

By painting the cells with silicic acid in a petri dish, the acid embalms the organic matter in the cell down to the nanometer level.

The silica then acts as a permeable armour, according to Michael Hess at the American Office of Public Affairs.

That means the cell beneath can be used as a catalyst at far greater temperatures than normal.

Heating the silica to around 400C evaporates the protein in the cell, but leaves the silica as a three-dimensional replica of the "formerly living being", Hess said.

A "Terrifying" Haunted Bible is availible for purchase on Ebay

A man called Fred is selling a "haunted antique Bible", that he believes is possessed by spirits that pulled a woman down the stairs, on Ebay for £120,000.

Fred, from Harrington, Cumbria, has already declined an offer of £50,000 for the antique Bible, believing it to be worth more due to its spiritual connections.

He was given the Bible, which is thought to date back to the early 1800s, by a female friend who inherited it from her grandparents.

She gave him the book in 2011 when she had "had enough" of its haunting: "There were doors opening, cupboards opening, stomping, someone walking upstairs," said Fred.

The "final straw" for his friend when "she was pulled by her hair and dragged down the stairs getting bruises all over her body, which is when she thought enough was enough and she decided to give it to me so I could keep it for."

When he took the Bible out of the house, the haunting stopped.

er wants to live with it under his roof and the woman has given him permission to sell it.
On Ebay, he warns the potential buyer: "This book is highly haunted and after getting a couple of psychics examining it, I've been told that spirits are attached to this book, therefor (sic) I accept no responsibility for any poltergeist activities that this Bible might bring into your dwellings, and I'm not to be held accountable to any incidents of the sort.

Ghost caught on camera in a deserted Russian bar (video)

Shisha pipe being movedThe chilling film shows the empty bar's curtains being moved and chairs being turned around after staff had left for the night.

Then a shisha pipe slides slowly to the edge of a table before being hurled to the ground.

A spooked waiter at the bar in Moscow, Russia - identified only as Vyacheslav - told local media: "I sometimes hear a knocking on the door when nobody is around."

He added: "There are strange noises all the time and sometimes the lights go on and off for no reason."

The bar's owners were so worried they called in the Russian capital's version of real-life ghostbusters, Laboratoriya Nepozannogo - or the Lab of Unknown.

Spooky psychometric tests found powerful magnetic readings inside the bar, indicating a strong spectral presence, said the experts.

The scientific team concluded that the suspected poltergeist might be attracted to waiter Vyacheslav whose "low spirit" would be visible to a ghost.

One officer said: "It seems more likely there was a break in and that for some technical reason the perpetrators were not recorded."

Couple claim they've filmed the ghost of a hooded monk (video)

A ghost-hunting couple claim to have captured the image of a 'hooded monk' in a church with a satanic past.

Paranormal investigator Dean Johnson 48, visited the abandoned church with partner Charlie last Wednesday after reading about it on specialist websites.

Dean, a part-time driver for Waitrose , said: "We had been standing on the public road outside the church for 10 minutes and my partner Charlie was testing the camera on his phone.

"We hadn't even had a chance to set up our three cameras with their tripods.

"When Charlie looked back at his camera footage there appeared to be a black hooded monk walking across the archway."

The paranormal enthusiast, who lives in Daventry, said: "We rushed back to the church but there was no-one there. The tower was locked so whatever it was was heading to a dead end.

"It's still unexplained but I'm going back to get more evidence.

"I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts but I certainly believe in the multiverse where people can cross over into our time from different dimensions.

Indiana's famous "Demon House" has been demolished

The home that sparked national attention over reports of it being infested with powerful demonic activity, leading to the purported possession of nearly an entire family, has been torn down, the Indiana Star reported.
The razing of the Gary, Indiana property followed its purchase by the host and executive producer of "Ghost Adventures," Zak Bagans in early 2014.

Bagans said he now plans to release a documentary on the residence's haunting later this year which will reveal the reason behind its demolition.

"Something was inside that house that had the ability to do things that I have never seen before — things that others carrying the highest forms of credibility couldn't explain either," he told the IndyStar via email. "There was something there that was very dark yet highly intelligent and powerful."

One of its last residents was mother-of-three, Latoya Ammons, who sought religious, medical and law enforcement help after allegedly experiencing a series of disturbing events inside. Those included family members levitating, speaking in tongues, convulsing and acting extremely violent.

Some of the incidents were backed up by members of the local police department, as well as workers with the state's Department of Child Services.

In one such incident, one of Ammons’ children was described as walking backwards up a wall inside of a hospital room, flipping into the air and landing on his feet. In another instance, at their doctor’s office, medical staff reported seeing one of the boys being lifted and thrown into a wall “without nobody touching him,” according to a Department of Child Services report.

Taxi Drivers still plagued by "Ghostly" passengers in Japan

A taxi driver in north-east Japan picks up a passenger in an area devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
He starts the meter and asks for the destination, to which the customer gives a strange response.

Either then, or sometime later, the driver turns around to address the man or woman - but the passenger has vanished.

This is because, it is claimed, it was a 'ghost passenger' who was, in fact, killed in the disaster five years ago.

At least seven taxi drivers in Ishinomaki have reported such an experience of a 'phantom fare', according to The Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

The coastal town in Miyagi Prefecture was among the regions most seriously affected by the deadly tsunami, which killed nearly 16,000 people in total.
Speaking to Yuka Kudo, a student of sociology at Tohoku Gakuin University, one taxi driver told of how he may have seen one of these residents just months after the March 2011 earthquake.

He said he was working in the town when a young woman dressed in a coat climbed into his cab near Ishinomaki Station and told him: “Please go to the Minamihama (district).”

In response, he told her that the area was 'almost empty' and asked her if she was sure she wished to go there.

The woman replied in a trembling voice, "Have I died?".

Ghost hunter claims to have captured angry GHOST on film (video)

Clem Dallaway, 40, set up a camera in a function room of his local community centre after staff reported strange goings on, including broken furniture and belongings going missing.

His recording in the Abbeydale Community Centre in Redditch, Worcs., appears to show a stroppy spectre causing mischief after hours.

He set the camera up in the centre on Friday which appeared to show a door opening on its own and a chair being scraped backwards.
The eerie footage ends with the camera being shoved on the floor.

Since the 1.23-minute clip was uploaded onto Mr Dallaway's Facebook page it has attracted more than 9,000 hits.

Mr Dallaway, from Redditch, said: "All I know is that customers and members of staff have heard bangs, footsteps and the same door, which leads to the skittle alley, opening.

"There have been a few reports of people hearing bangs in the club, including members of staff.

The door seemingly opens by itself in the empty room

Scared Mom filmed ghosts on a baby monitor (video)

Jade Yates, who lives in Barongarook, Victoria, Australia, watched the spooky footage through the baby monitor as two figures appeared to float above the cot.

The terrified mum posted the clip to Facebook alongside a short description, which began: 'Fair to say I won't be sleeping very well tonight.'

Ghostly figures: Terrified Jade Yates claims to have filmed the apparition of a mother and child above her baby.
The video shows baby Ruby curled up in her blanket while fast asleep as a white figure suddenly emerges exactly above where she rests.

It appears to have a head and body and moves from left to right before floating towards the wall and shrinking in size.
