Mumbai is also known for its many structures that remind us of the
colonial past and some structures are said to be sinister or ghostly in a
way that instills fear.
Daily Bhaskar brings to you a list of the five most haunted places in the city that never sleeps. Even if someone steps in that area by compulsion or by mistake, they make sure that they leave that place before the sun sets in. With various stories doing the rounds, people do not know the real truth behind the rumors. But Mumbaikars are sure of one thing, i.e., they do not wish to tread that area for any reason.

Tower of Silence: The Tower of Silence is actually a Parsi
cemetery situated rather picturesquely on Malabar Hill in South Mumbai.
Zoroastrians or the Parsis left the bodies of their dead for vultures to
feed on. In this way they believed that they were returning to nature
the same they had taken from it. The winding road that leads down the
hill is particularly desolate and eerie at night and the place has
become recognized as a kind of ghoulish hangout.
Grand Paradi Towers: Grand Paradi Towers situated in the
middle of the city at Kemp's Corner. It is one of the poshest locations
in the city and yet the flat on the second floor has remained unsold for
years. This is because this building has registered 20 precarious cases
of suicide since it was built in 1979. Arguably the most famous haunted
house in Mumbai is situated in Grand Paradi Towers in Kemps Corner a
series of freakish suicides from 2004 drew attention to what appeared to
be a gruesome pattern of deaths and accidents in the building.
In 2004 an elderly couple jumped out of the window of this apartment. Their children and their grandchild followed suit within the year. Residents who have lived in the building for 30 years said that there was something unacceptable to the rational minds that a whole family, three generations, living in one house should committed suicide in the same way. There have been up to 20 cases of fatal accidents and suicides since the building was constructed in 1976. Many other victims included children and even a maid who either jumped or fell out of a window.
After the series of unfortunate events the building society began to believe that paranormal forces were at work. After the suicides of the family the building society decided to do a puja and a havan and since then everything has stopped but the flat still continues to remain unoccupied.

Mukesh Mills: This cotton mill of Mumbai was closed in the
80s and is now abuzz with ghost stories. The Mukesh mill, situated in
Colaba, is the place where many films were shot. But in one unfortunate
shooting, the actress herself was possessed by a spirit and started
speaking in a masculine voice.
Deserted and rundown, Mukesh Mills is a ready-made set for horror films and Gothic shows, especially considering the Mill is actually considered to be haunted. Many directors, actors, and producers refuse to work here past sunset. One television actress claimed to have had a particularly bad experience where one of her female co-stars suddenly began speaking in a manly voice, as if she were possessed, telling the crew to leave the premises immediately. Others say the place is jinxed and people are always losing their belongings, wallets, and phones.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park: Located on the northern fringes of Mumbai, this large protected area is usually a place people go to spot wildlife. The leopards and other beasts are said to feed on people staying in forest encroached land. But, strangely people here do not fear the beasts as much as the rumored spirit of a hitchhiker who could not bear to live or die peacefully in Mumbai. It is rumored that at night, people have sightings of a phantom hitchhiker that asks those who pass by for rides. Dubious as this may sound, forest guards insist that it is true.

Aarey Milk Colony: Aarey Milk Colony is a vast area in
Mumbai with long stretches of green pastures. Established in 1949, this
is the only place in the whole of Mumbai where adequate green coverage
can be seen and experienced. This milking estate was set up for the
Aarey Dairy employees. People frequent this place on the weekend for
picnic. Members of the film and ad industry use it as a location for
shoots.
Aarey Milk Colony is famous for its visits from remarkable and
unexpected ghostly images. Just as with Mukesh Mills, many in the film
industry get the spooks here and refuse to work in the place after
dark.

What was the cause of the strange and unexpected death of 22 year old Alexandrine parakeet "Mittoo alias mittoo the poppat" in its cage in Vaibhav apartments in Mumbai? Was it paranormal forces at work ? "Mittoo" was unofficially India's best talking Alexandrine parakeet and a mascot of a notional "Sports betting game" titled "Mittoo alias mittoo the poppat" on "Facebook".He was absolutely hale and hearty but found dead the next morning in his cage on Monday(10-3-2014). Check the video's and blogs on "Mittoo" , a common Alexandrine parakeet that had the I.Q of a small human child. When people die mysteriously it is linked with paranormal and hence i ignored the untimely and bizarre death of "Mittoo alias mittoo the poppat".

Nice and spooky post on haunted places in Mumbai. There are many stories of haunted places in India and there are many stories of haunted train stations in India. Localites have many versions of stories of paranormal activities which happen there.

He was hanging from a iconic banyan tree and must have hung himself somewhere around the night or early morning.I was the first "Citizen Reporter" at the scene of a hanging. The police arrived later and his body was just left dangling. It was akin to a public hanging with the large market crowd just watching this young healthy man dangling from a Banyan tree.I flew back to Mumbai the same evening of my birthday and the next day googled the news and this is what was written of the hanging man.The press labelled it as "SUICIDE".Read in the "New Indian Express" and "The Hindu" editions that this man named Thankappan aged 42 years was a migrant from Tamil Nadu and a business trader in the Ernakulam vegetable market residing at Ambalamughal. The "Hindu" newspaper stated that he was doing vegetable business since the last few years.Conflicting versions in the two papers as to whether he was a alcoholic who committed suicide possibly due to monetary distress. The "New Indian Express" paper also stated that a few days before a man had committed suicide by jumping from the office of the city Police Commissioner .Isn't it bizarre that Thankappan had hung himself either on 10th night or 11th morning and his dangling body discovered early in the morning akin to "Mittoo" ?
I live in malabar hills, mumbai.I everyday late night go for walk near tower of silence and their is no ghost n i dont get spooky feeling
