UFO "Car" on road freaks out New Zealand man

A West Coast man is 'freaked out' after coming face to face last night with what he claims was a UFO, parked on the road outside the entrance to Shantytown.

Matthew Robert, a mechanic from Rutherglen, insists he is not alone and that three other cars were also confronted by the night-time visitor on Rutherglen Road, south of Greymouth, about 8.45pm.

When the car-shaped object suddenly lifted into the sky in a blinding light, he and the other drivers left in such a hurry they left skid marks on the road.

"I was changing a CD as I was driving and when I looked up I saw what looked like a car without its lights on, stopped in the middle of the road outside Shantytown. I slammed on my brakes and my eyes were still trying to focus, when suddenly the thing just lit up and shot into the sky," Mr Robert said.

"When I came to my senses I noticed that there were three other cars that had stopped on the other side of the road as well. It's weird that no one else has come forward because those people obviously would have seen the same thing I did."

He claims that immediately following the incident he lost all cellphone reception, his vision was blurry and his eyes watery for about an hour afterwards.

New Zealand Police stumped by haunted Christchurch station

BUMP IN THE NIGHT: Senior Constable Gary Malzard shows where the Hornby police station ghost can be heard walking around in the dead of night.

Christchurch's crime busters may be in need of some ghostbusters

Officers at the Hornby station say there have been paranormal occurrences in the building for many years, but there are no clues on who the phantom may be.

Senior Sergeant Pete Laloli, who has run the Hornby station for 20 years, said the night-time spooks had been present as long as he could remember. "If you're in the station by yourself, strange things happen."

Staff who worked there were well aware of a "presence", he said. At night, footsteps could be heard upstairs and, when they investigated, officers would find doors open that had been closed.

Lights and electronics would come on for no apparent reason.

"One of the guys had finished work after one of our student operations and he went in, then walked out, walked back in and the radio was going," Laloli said.

"I'm not talking a police radio; this was a transistor radio that was on the desk."

One staff member had refused to go into the station on his own, Laloli said.

New Zealand family calls in ghostbusters

The family of six moved into the house in January, and say coffee tables have moved, wardrobe doors slam by themselves, the shower turns on and off, they hear footsteps on the stairs, and the children have seen "apparitions".

In May 2010, a mother and her two teenage daughters were found dead in the two-storey Avonhead house. Four days later, the father was found dead in his car nearby.

The new tenants took over the five-bedroom house this year and were a "little nervous" when the real estate agent told them what had happened. Now they say "strange things" started happening from day one.

The 41-year-old father of the household, who did not want to be named, said he was not a strong believer in the supernatural but things were happening that they couldn't explain. "We're not drug- addicted hippies who hang wind chimes from the trees, we're an average, normal family. But all six of us, and even the dog, have been picking up weird things."

Despite trying to "keep the children out of it", he said his five- year-old daughter had been seen talking to herself in the mirror and later came downstairs and said she had been speaking to a "little girl".

Friendly Ghost caught in jar up for auction.

If you've ever wanted your own ghost, here's your chance.

After causing havoc at Rotorua's Plunket clinic, "George the Friendly Community Ghost" has been caught, kept in a jar, and is for sale on Trade Me.

Apparently George had become a nuisance, playing with lights and stealing biscuits, so he's waiting to be shipped to the highest bidder.

Committee member Caraline Abbott (pictured) had the novel idea during a late-night meeting at the Pukuatua St clinic.

"It's one of those creaky old buildings and I thought 'I wonder if there's a ghost here'," she said.

"It is scary, the thoughts go through your head, even though the chocolate biscuits haven't really gone missing."

New Zealand Ghost Sighting Spooks Students

Larnach Castle
Ghostly sightings may have left Cumberland College students spooked, but now a tourist has reported being bullied by a ghost at Larnach Castle.

Sightings of the ghost known as the "Grey Lady" at the college earlier this month have sparked a media frenzy, says the author of a soon-to-be-published book about Dunedin's haunted spots.

HairRaiser Tours owner Andrew Smith said well-known spots included Larnach Castle, the Fortune Theatre, Stafford Gables and a specific area around Moray Pl.

The college was in "lock-down" when he visited with other media yesterday.

Students and staff were  spooked by the latest sightings, he said.

"Whether or not the students have known the history and they have talked themselves into believing something - that could be a possibility ... but they are genuinely freaked out."

Unexplained Sounds are being recorded all over the world. (videos)

Recently people have been recording bizarre sounds all over the world. Here a few very interesting ones. I find them interesting because of the whole "End of times" theory for 2012, which I personally think is just all paranoia. But the are still very odd. Also they are best listened to while wearing headphones.

Ironically I had a dream last night about being hired by Michelle Obama to document the possible end of the world scenario.

So funny that I look online this morning and this is what I begin to find,..hmmmm,... or it could just be viral videos for Cloverfield 2

From i09: What exactly are we hearing in these YouTube videos posted by people who claim they've recorded ear-splitting roars coming from the sky with no explanation?
