Dead man stops by Burger King in Pennsylvania (video)

York, PA - On the way to his final resting place Saturday, David S. Kime Jr.'s loved ones took a spin through the Burger King drive-through on the corner of Route 30 and Pennsylvania Avenue for one last WHOPPER JR.

The 88-year-old West York man died Jan. 20 at York Hospital.

"He always lived by his own rules," said Linda Phiel, one of Kime's three daughters. "His version of eating healthy was the lettuce on the WHOPPER JR."

As a tribute to a man who loved fast food, Phiel's family stopped for some burgers on the way to the cemetery. Mourners followed the hearse carrying Kime's flag-draped casket through the drive-thru. Each got a WHOPPER JR.

The sandwich was among Kime's favorites.

"He liked his WHOPPER JRs.," said Margaret Hess, head manager of the Manchester Township Burger King. She and her staff prepared 40 of the sandwiches for the funeral procession.

"They also wanted one for the deceased," Hess said.

Phiel said the display wasn't a joke, rather a happy way of honoring her father and the things that brought him joy.

"All of us are going to be in this position," she said.

"And I think there's a certain group who think we should be crying. But on the other hand, he lived a wonderful life and on his own terms.

Two men claim "Spacecraft" caused car crash

(Australia) TWO men who walked away from a car crash on the back roads around Wivenhoe Dam claimed to be chasing an alien space craft when found by police.

Police and the driver's insurance company received several sketchy phone calls from the men, who appeared to be convinced paranormal activity caused the crash.

Police received the first call from the men at 2.25am Friday, saying they had been in an accident at Split Yard Creek and asked for the RAAF to attend.

It later became apparent the car had gone off the road and down an embankment near the Split Yard Creek bridge.

As the evening progressed, the men became increasingly agitated and scared of the situation.

The phone call dropped out, and after 30 minutes of trying to contact the men, police received a call from RACQ Insurance.

Police said the conversations with the men were vague and at times barely understandable.

The men began to "freak out", telling the insurance company they were about to disappear and referred to the area as the Bermuda Triangle, police said.

Police called the men back, with the second male answering the phone, telling police there were "some really weird things going on" and they had abandoned the car.

PENDLETON -- Baby foxes or Bigfoot?

The eerie late-night serenades began in November and emanate from a brushy swamp on the Umatilla Indian Reservation east of Pendleton. The cries range from high-pitched screams to basso profundo roars.

"It's causing an uproar around here," said Sylvia Minthorn, who lives in a tribal housing unit near the swamp, where she used to play as a child.

She's seen grown men's hair stand on end when the shrieks commence.

Colleen Chance, a tribal housing authority employee, keeps a recording of the howls on her iPhone.
"It's kind of spooky," she said. "Some say it's foxes, some say it's a female coyote and some say it's Sasquatch. I don't know what it is."

So far no one's pinpointed the source of the noise on this rugged 178,000-acre reservation that extends into northeastern Oregon's Blue Mountains and is home to about 1,500 people. The swamp in question borders the old reservation community of Mission, in a canyon north of the Wildhorse Resort and Casino. 

Phone calls about the wails started coming in last month to the housing authority, and the office has had a half dozen so far. More could come in because the cries are continuing from time to time.

Haunted House on Ebay for 1 euro.

A HOUSE which has been described by its owner as being haunted, has been listed on eBay for just 1 euro.

On the French version of eBay, Maud69620 - who listed the house - has stated the house is haunted by spirits after a murder allegedly took place there during the 1950s.

While the murder was never officially confirmed, as their bodies were never found, the former owners' bodies were discovered to be buried in a nearby field.

Paranormal incidents have reportedly been witnessed in and around the house, including random knocks on windows, strange voices and murmurs, weird noises and moving objects.

The house is located in Arbresle, in the Rhône-Alpes region of France and is a 110sqm home on a 350sqm block of land.

The Haunting of Emily's Bridge in Stowe, Vermont

Gold Brook Covered Bridge, also known as Emily's Bridge, is a small wooden covered bridge in the town of Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont, running Covered Bridge Road over Gold Brook. Built in 1844, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Haunted?

While there is supposedly a gravestone in the Stowe cemetery bearing the name "Emilie" there is no record of a ghostly presence before the 1960s. The earliest and best-known written source for the legend is a high school paper written in 1968 or 1969 by a teenager named Susan.

A 1978 newspaper story on Emily's Bridge stated that by that point, ten years after Susan wrote the paper, both she and a friend admitted to consulting a Ouija board to form one version of the legend that was included in the high school paper. Other versions in the high school paper came from local residents. The legend of the ghost named Emily was already circulating in the community when Susan wrote her paper (her awareness of the story was what inspired her to pick it for her paper topic). The legend originated sometime during the late 1950s or early 1960s, and likely was the work of other local teenagers. It quickly spread throughout the years.

Several stories explain the legend.
 
In one, Emily was to have met her lover (of whom her parents didn't approve) at the bridge so they could elope. Emily waited at the bridge and when he did not arrive sadness drove her her to hang herself from a beam inside the bridge.

Another says Emily, on her way to her wedding, was run down by a runaway team of horses (or her horse threw her and she plunged to the rocks below the bridge).

Finding Chico, California's real haunted locals.

CHICO, CA. -- When you are new to town, among the first things you hope to find are the hangouts, the really good haunts. But according to local legend, in Chico some of the best haunts are already taken ... by real spooks.

While the town is hardly a place that could be categorized as spooky, it is hard to point in any direction without finding some place with an allegedly ghostly resident.  

Strange experiences have been reported on the Chico State University campus. Students, faculty, staff and administrators have little contact with the campus' non-corporeal residents. However, the custodians who walk and scrub the empty halls of the campus buildings long after the last student has fled tell tales of things that literally go "bump in the night."

While blood-curdling screams in the darkness and the rattling of chains aren't part of these collegiate spooks routine, they can still be disconcerting.  

One custodian who asked that his name not be used was working in Butte Hall one evening.   He was taking a break, sitting on a padded bench in the ground-floor lobby, when he had a sudden sense he was not alone.   He turned and saw a woman sitting at the opposite end of the bench he was on. The custodian gasped when he saw her.

What better place is there to look for ghosts than a ghost town.

The tiny town of Wayne in Alberta’s Badlands is not exactly a ghost town, but it’s not far off. Before the coal mine shut down, the town boasted a population of nearly 2,500 souls. Today, there are only 27 or, to be more accurate, 27 , as one of the town’s residents is pregnant. That’s big news in a community that has been in decline for decades.

Most of Wayne’s residents picked up and left when the mine closed during the Great Depression. Building supplies were at a premium in the Badlands, since there aren’t many trees around, so most folks literally picked up their shacks and relocated to nearby communities where other mines were still operating, places like nearby Drumheller. As a result, there aren’t many buildings left to remind visitors of Wayne’s glory days, but there is one place, the storied Rosedeer Hotel.

The beige, false-fronted building of the Rosedeer, sitting by the rusted railway tracks that once served this populous place, looks like something from a western, which is probably why it’s been featured in a film or two, not to mention some TV shows and music videos.

Today, it’s a popular stop for road-trippers searching for remnants of the old West — and for ghost hunters. Not ghost-town hunters, but ghost hunters. That’s because the Rosedeer Hotel is haunted.

A UFO sighting witness from the west-central San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles (CA) reported having photographed a strange craft with the L.A.P.D. helicopter while working on some practice shots.

The witness, from Winnetka, was taking photos in his backyard when he spotted the L.A.P.D. helicopter from above. "I decided to take a picture of the helicopter with the blades clearly visible," the witness writes in this MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) report. 

"I had set the camera to a shutter speed of 1/250sec in an attempt to catch to rotors of the L.A.P.D. helicopter," he writes. But the photographer did not have the chance to look closely at his photo until December last year. It was then that he caught the strange object in the frame.

"I blew up the picture, and could not believe at what I was looking at," the report continues. He explains in his MUFON report that he is a bird watcher, but the object he saw did not look like a bird at all.

Do Scientists fear the paranormal ?

The question has been asked for decades: why haven’t psychic powers been proven yet? Psychics have been studied for decades, both in and out of the laboratory, yet the scientific community (and the public at large) remains unconvinced.

In a recent book, “Science & Psychic Phenomena: The Fall of the House of Skeptics,” author Chris Carter insists that the reason that psychic powers have not been proven is because scientists are unaware of the research or refuse to take it seriously because “Clearly many scientists find the claims of parapsychology disturbing.”

This is a common charge leveled against skeptics and scientists: that they refuse to acknowledge the existence of paranormal phenomenon (psychic abilities, ghosts, etc.) because it would somehow challenge or “disturb” their worldview.

Skeptics and scientists, they say, are deeply personally and professional invested in defending the scientific status quo and cannot psychologically tolerate the idea that they could be wrong. This results in a closed-minded refusal to accept, or even seriously examine, the evidence.

But is this really true? Do scientists ignore and dismiss claims and evidence that challenge dominant scientific ideas? Let’s examine some recent examples.

Haunted Longwood Village Inn for sale, in Florida

LONGWOOD, Fla. — A 19th century inn, said to be haunted, is up for sale in Longwood. The sellers said they hope that one minor detail won't scare off any potential buyers.

The Longwood Village Inn was built around 1885 and is considered prime real estate because it's right next to the SunRail station under construction.

The inn hasn't changed much since its heydays of the late 1800s. Now a for-sale sign sits in front the historic building.

"We've attracted the new tenants and we are almost a hundred percent full, but with the anticipation of the SunRail there is the opportunity and the interest to go ahead and liquidate the building," said seller Lenny Leyland.

The 30-room hotel is now an office building and sits directly across the street from the Longwood SunRail station.

City leaders said it's prime real estate. They said they estimate the city tax base will grow by $600 million after SunRail operations start next year.

The building's one of the few 19th century buildings in the state and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. And it's said to be haunted.

"Bumped into a Bigfoot" music video based on real Utah encounter (video)

PROVO, Utah – A music video posted on YouTube on Friday gives the account of a supposed Bigfoot encounter in Provo Canyon.

In October, two men from Provo posted a video on YouTube showing video of what they say may have been the elusive Sasquatch hanging out in Provo Canyon.

It’s had more than 7 million page views since being uploaded and has caught the attention of some self-declared Bigfoot experts.

Then, in January, a parody video of the purported encounter that showcased “Bigfoot” slacklining in the same area of Provo Canyon.

On Friday, a video was posted of a guy named Bedford rapping an account of how he “Bumped into Bigfoot.”

Spike in strange lights over Vancouver Island, Canada (video)

COMOX VALLEY – A B.C. UFO investigator says 2013 is already shaping up to be a busier-than-normal year for sightings of unusual lights and strange flying objects.

Brian Vike authors a blog entitled The Vike Factor and has investigated more than 11,000 reports from across Canada and around the world. Vike says there was a spike in activities on the morning of January 11th when triangular shaped objects and unusual lights were seen over Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. The sightings followed an asteroid, which streaked over the skies of B.C. and Washington State.

One report indicates a mother witnessed a large school bus sized triangular object in the sky just after she dropped her children off for school. The witness reported seeing the solid object moving along until it started to hover and had three balls of orange light on each point. The witness reported to Vike that the balls of light went into the centre of the object before it disappeared.

Vike estimates around 90% of what is reported to him can be easily explained, whether it’s by people seeing the International Space Station flying overhead, or Chinese lanterns taking to the sky or flares being dropped from aircrafts. Others he is still struggling to explain.

NASA caught deleting UFO photos from website (video)

The Examiner: In a news alert issued today, NASA has been caught deleting photos from its website of what is unmistakable evidence of a UFO.

The UFO photos first appeared on the NASA Johnson Space Center website in May 2011 and clearly showed a spacecraft of some advanced design. Without any fanfare, the photos were uploaded and stayed on the NASA website for over a year and half until being recently removed.

According to Scott Waring from UFO Sightings Daily, the photos were initially leaked by someone in NASA wanting to get the word out about UFOs.

The removed photos with original links to the NASA/Johnson Space Center website can now be found on UFO Sightings Daily. The removal of the digital photos supports claims by whistleblowers that NASA regularly removes evidence of UFOs from its website that are extraterrestrial in origin.

The Wanaque NJ UFO Incident

UFOs Over The Wanaque Reservoir: The Roswell of the Ramapos January 11, 1966 started like any other mid-winter day in the small suburban town of Wanaque, NJ. The air was clear and cold, kids were enjoying the holiday vacation from school, and residents of the Passaic County borough went about their usual daily routines. Little did they know that before the day was over something would happen, something fantastic and unexplainable, that would change the lives of many of the townsfolk forever.

It all started in the early evening of that Tuesday night. It was about 6:30pm, and the winter sun was already long gone over the western horizon, past the great Wanaque reservoir, and behind the darkened Ramapo mountain range.

Wanaque Patrolman Joseph Cisco was in his cruiser when a call from the Pompton Lakes dispatcher came over his police radio. It was a report of a "glowing light, possibly a fire."

Then as if right out of a sci-fi movie Cisco heard the words: "People in Oakland, Ringwood, Paterson, Totowa, and Butler claim there's a flying saucer over the Wanaque." "I pulled into the sandpit, an open area to get my bearings," Cisco recalls. "There was a light that looked bigger than any of the stars, about the size of a softball or volleyball. It was a pulsating, white, stationary light changing to red. It stayed in the air; there was no noise. I was trying to figure out what it was." Wanaque Mayor Harry T. Wolfe, Councilmen Warren Hagstrom and Arthur Barton, and the Mayor's 14-year-old son Billy were on their way to oversee the burning of the borough's Christmas trees, when they heard the reports that something "very white, very bright, and much bigger than a star" was hovering over the Wanaque Reservoir.

They decided to pull into a sandpit near the Raymond Dam at the headworks to meet Officer Cisco and get a better look at the 'thing.' The Mayor's son Billy spotted the object at once, flying low and gliding "oddly" over the vast frozen lake "like a huge star." "But it didn't flicker," Billy told reporters the next day. "It was just a continuous light that changed from white to red to green and back to white." ]

UFO caught on camera by Texas oil workers

There’s a buzz among the workers a drilling site in southern Texas that they might not alone. Eyewitness reports and footage taken by both workers and security cameras seem to capture what can at this point only be described as unidentified lights in the sky.

The San Antonio Express-News reported the workers at the Eagle Ford Shale for several nights in a row in October saw the lights and that a security camera’s footage from a few months earlier, albeit blurry and black and white, shows a disc-shaped object near another well site.

Here’s the accounts of a few witnesses:

“We all know what the lights from a plane or a helicopter look like,” said Rene Cantu, the oilfield worker who first sighted the orange lights. “This wasn’t a plane or a helicopter.”

“We sit on our back porch and watch planes go by every night,” said Jerry Farrell, a nearby rancher who saw the same lights as Cantu and his co-workers. “This was 12, 13, 14 lights, that were all spread out, flying all over the sky. And when they moved, it was at unbelievable speed, from horizon to horizon and back.”

Cantu was on a work break when he saw the lights. He yelled out to co-workers, who joined him watching the lights, which put on a 3-minute show, bouncing around the heavens like a celestial pinball machine.

'Sandy Hook Truthers' claim Newtown shooting was a hoax (video)

WASHINGTON – The United States has long been a breeding ground for conspiracy theorists, spurred by an often violent history riddled, in particular, with shadowy political assassinations.

But the latest conspiracy movement seems custom-made to underscore the need for a national debate on mental illness. Some of the Sandy Hook Truthers, as they’ve been dubbed, believe last month’s mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., was a hoax.

The Obama administration perpetrated the hoax, the conspiracy theorists claim, in order to ratchet up support for tougher gun control measures.

They call themselves Operation Terror, and many of the movement’s adherents appear to have ties to the so-called 9-11 truthers who have long held that the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were an inside job by the George W. Bush administration.

Their theories on the Dec. 14 shooting in Sandy Hook appear to lack any basis in fact, reality or common sense. But Google Trends suggests the movement is gaining momentum with both a Florida college professor and a libertarian Fox News anchor in Cincinnati questioning the official narrative on the events.

On various websites and blogs, some Sandy Hook truthers crow about the “smoking gun” they say proves the shooting was a hoax — a photo of President Barack Obama, backstage at a Newtown vigil two days after the shooting, a young blonde girl sitting on his lap.

HONG KONG—The city's property boom is so powerful it has scared away the ghosts.

No matter what happened to real-estate prices in this superstitious Chinese city, the one surefire way to get a cheap apartment was to move in with a ghost. Websites track "haunted houses" or hongza, as they are known in Cantonese, which typically sell or rent for discounted prices.

But the latest boom in real-estate prices has nearly wiped away Hong Kong's haunted-house discount.

That has been bad news for Ng Goon Lau, 62 years old, who made a career—and a tidy fortune—braving the supernatural. For more than 10 years, he says he has bought and sold apartments where a tenant died an unnatural death, paying a third less than the market price and later selling at a healthy profit. Meantime, he says, he rents to expatriates, who tend to be less superstitious than locals.

Mr. Ng's business model is under fire by more than a dozen aggressive new competitors, says Vienna Lee of Squarefoot.com.hk, which runs a popular local search engine for these apartments.

That isn't surprising. After doubling in the past four years, Hong Kong property prices are now among the highest in the world.

Erected in 1794, the Bridge Café is one of the oldest original taverns in New York City, and the café’s exterior—an unchanged facade of an 18th century waterfront—is a natural oasis for ghost stories. One of the owners was a mariner, and the space, which turned into a shady watering hole early in the 19th century, allegedly attracts river pirates, who are said to still occasionally visit the bar. Tom Cruise thinks he's on Earth to vanquish Aliens

Tom Cruise is setting his sights on aliens, according to a new book.

Tom Cruise will save the world from aliens — not on the big screen but in real life.

His day job as an actor pales next to the billion-year contract of service he signed with the Church of Scientology, according to a bombshell new book, “Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood & The Prison of Belief.” New Yorker writer Lawrence Wright details Cruise’s demigod status within the church, as well as the group’s ultimate purpose — protect humanity from aliens living in our bodies, who are bent on destroying us and ultimately the planet.

Cruise was introduced to the religion when he was 23 years old by his then-girlfriend, actress Mimi Rogers. Seven years his senior, Rogers was an avowed member of Scientology; they married in 1987. Cruise was quickly intrigued, but he kept his initial participation low-profile. He began undergoing “auditing” — a process in which church members are queried about every aspect of their lives — under his given name, Thomas Mapother IV.

It took several years for church leaders to realize that for all of their celebrity acolytes — including John Travolta, Priscilla Presley, Kirstie Alley, Kelly Preston and Sonny Bono — they had a true superstar at their disposal.

Wife's ghost prompts man to kill himself

The ghost of his wife allegedly drove a 65-year-old widower to hang himself on Saturday morning inside his house in Novaliches, Quezon City.

“Look, it’s my wife. She wants me to go with her so I’m going,” were reportedly the last words of Nonito Locaya to his sister who minutes later found him hanging from a beam inside his room, a telephone cord looped around his neck.

Locaya was subsequently declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at  Bernardino General Hospital.

Police Officer 3 Edison Banguilan, a first responder of the Quezon City Police District Novaliches station, said the victim’s 69-year-old sister, Milagros Valenciano, found his body around 6 a.m. on Saturday in their house on Garcia Street, Doña Faustina Subdivision in Novaliches.

Banguilan quoted Valenciano as saying that several minutes before the incident, her brother suffered what she called a hallucination.

“He told his sister that his wife was at their house with them and inviting him to go with her,” the police investigator told the Inquirer, adding that Locaya’s wife had been dead for more than a year.

Following videos challenging the ‘lone-wolf’ shooter theory, some have come out fully discrediting the traditional Shandy Hook narrative. Among those is Ben Swann of Reality Check who is up to win the Shorty Award in Journalism. There are even videos and theories that insist Sandy Hook was staged and is part of some large government conspiracy.

Alderney holidaymaker Bill Cook photographed the spectre-like vessel on Wednesday 19 December as it headed towards the breakwater.

Mr Cook was on a drive around the island with his wife.

‘It was a misty day and quite atmospheric and my wife asked me to stop the car so she could take a picture of the lighthouse,’ said Mr Cook.

‘She was just using her point-and-shoot camera and said she could see something at sea.

‘I got my camera out and zoomed in on it and I could make out a small three-masted vessel hugging the coast.

‘We watched it for a while as it made its way to the breakwater and towards Guernsey, passing a Condor ferry on the way.’

Mr Cook suggested it could be The Matthew, a replica of the 15th-century ship that took John Cabot from Bristol to Newfoundland.

There are many types of ghost stories: ghosts that haunt houses, ghosts that haunt battlefields or mansions, ghosts that move stuff around (poltergeists), and more. But the single most common type of ghost story, found all around the world, is that of the hitchhiking ghost. And one of the oldest recorded examples of the hitchhiking ghost story comes from just over the mountains in Ramapo.

This all came to mind recently, on Jan. 1, when my family and I joined my friend archaeologist Ed Lenik and a group of hardy souls for Ed’s annual New Year’s Day hike. Ed’s been doing this for 31 years now, and this year’s hike was to the hamlet of Ramapo.

The hike started at the Ramapo Saltbox Environmental Center on Torne Valley Road in the village of Ramapo. This is a brand-new (yet very old) facility. Let me digress: in 1795, the Pierson family took advantage of waterpower on the Ramapo River and iron in the nearby hills to establish an ironworks here. It was soon a flourishing industrial enterprise, making nails, screws, cotton cloth, and spring steel. It operated until the Civil War years, and along with many industrial buildings, there was a small village of worker’s housing. This is now the hamlet of Ramapo—little else of the Pierson works survives, except the old stone cotton mill (now a warehouse) and the Pierson’s old mansion and estate.

Help Wanted: Astronauts to Mars (one-way ticket included) (video)

Mars One, a nonprofit organization based in the Netherlands, intends to establish a human settlement on Mars in 2023.

They need astronauts.

Anyone on planet Earth can apply if they meet the basic requirements. But obviously, the job isn’t for just anyone.

Today, Mars One released its application criteria. Among other virtues, astronaut candidates must have “a deep sense of purpose, willingness to build and maintain healthy relationships, the capacity for self-reflection and ability to trust. They must be resilient, adaptable, curious, creative and resourceful.” And be at least 18 years old (no maximum age has been set).

The selection process will begin during the first half of 2013. Mars One experts and viewers of a “global, televised program”  — think reality TV where the prize could be a trip to a dry, dusty world — will choose from among the applications. Those ultimately selected will be assembled into teams of four. At least six teams are supposed to be ready to launch in September 2022. But only one team will make the first trip to the Red Planet, and that team will be decided democratically.

Christchurch's crime busters may be in need of some ghostbusters

Officers at the Hornby station say there have been paranormal occurrences in the building for many years, but there are no clues on who the phantom may be.

Senior Sergeant Pete Laloli, who has run the Hornby station for 20 years, said the night-time spooks had been present as long as he could remember. "If you're in the station by yourself, strange things happen."

Staff who worked there were well aware of a "presence", he said. At night, footsteps could be heard upstairs and, when they investigated, officers would find doors open that had been closed.

Lights and electronics would come on for no apparent reason.

"One of the guys had finished work after one of our student operations and he went in, then walked out, walked back in and the radio was going," Laloli said.

"I'm not talking a police radio; this was a transistor radio that was on the desk."

One staff member had refused to go into the station on his own, Laloli said.

Mysterious Black Cloud Spotted off Southampton Old Town Beach

A dense black cloud with no obvious source was seen over the Atlantic Ocean Thursday, and the birdwatcher who spotted it is seeking answers.

Southampton resident David Sagman said he saw the cloud in the distance during a routine birdwatching expedition Thursday, while standing at the end of Old Town Road in Southampton and overlooking the ocean.

"It seemed to be moving very slowly westward and northward with very subtle shape change," Sagman said.

"And no fishing boats were observed nearby."

The cloud was several miles offshore, he said, and he got the best photos he could, using an 800mm digiscope — a telescope for taking photos — on a tripod.

"I wondered if it could be composed of thousands of birds but other thoughts are welcome," Sagman said.

The as-yet-unexplained disappearance last Friday of the plane carrying six passengers and crew, including Italian fashion mogul Vittorio Missoni, has prompted some to blame the "Los Roques curse".

 

The label has been attached to a series of mysterious plane crashes and "vanishings" over the past decade or so between the Caribbean archipelago of Los Roques and the Venezuelan capital Caracas, 140km to the south. Inevitably, comparisons have been made with the infamous Bermuda Triangle, the area between Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico that has long had a reputation for unexplained disappearances of ships and planes.

To date, no wreckage of Missoni's plane has been located since it took off from Los Roques for Caracas. A hotel owner on the islands said he last saw the plane – a twin-engine BN-2 Islander built in 1968 – entering a bank of clouds. Meanwhile, the Missoni family said it was not ruling out the possibility that the plane had been hijacked by local drug smugglers. Venezuela's civil aviation authority said the aircraft's last recorded position was 18km south of the Los Roques.

Since the mid-90s, there have been at least 15 reported incidents in which small aircraft have either crashed, disappeared or declared emergencies while travelling through the area. In 2008, 14 people were killed when a plane making the same journey as Missoni's crashed into the sea. No wreckage was ever found and only one body was recovered.

Mysterious booms rock Northern Utah (video)

SALT LAKE CITY — Hundreds of people from Weber County to Utah County, and some as far north as Rock Springs, Wyoming reported that they felt shaking or heard loud booms Tuesday night around 9 p.m.

The FOX 13 Newsroom received several calls from concerned citizens about the phenomena shortly after 9 p.m., but the cause remains a mystery.

Experts at the seismology department at the University of Utah confirmed there was seismic activity measured just behind the Capitol building.

“There are low-frequency signals that are usually from the atmosphere. The infra-sound network is most sensitive to signals that come from the atmosphere, so we think this was an above ground event,” said Katherine Whidden, research seismologist. “These can be airplanes that are breaking the sound barrier, they can be explosions or they can be storms.”

Curiosity rover finds mysterious flower on Mars

Like the 'mystery' shiny thing Curiosity spotted in October 2012 -- that turned out to be a piece of robot litter -- the Mars rover has discovered another oddity lodged in a rock that mission scientists haven't yet explained.

While using its robotic arm-mounted Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) camera to take some close up photos of the surface of a rocky outcrop at a location dubbed "Yellowknife Bay" on Dec. 19 (sol 132 of the mission), a bright object could be seen in one of the raw images uploaded to the mission's website.

Its discovery has caused quite a stir on AboveTopSecret.com where it was first reported.

Alerted to the mystery feature, MSNBC's Alan Boyle assumed it was just another piece of litter accidentally dropped from the rover. However, this isn't the case. On putting the question to NASA spokesman Guy Webster, it appears initial analysis has confirmed it is part of the rock and not something dropped on top.

"That appears to be part of the rock, not debris from the spacecraft," Webster told Boyle in an email.

Georgia woman claims ghost stole $5000 resume plus a blouse

WINDER, Ga. -- A Barrow County sheriff’s deputy encountered a burglary case on Saturday possibly more suited to a ghost hunter.

Though she perhaps should have called the Ghostbusters, the theft victim instead told local deputies that a ghost stole from her.

The 40-year-old Winder woman reported stolen her resume, criminal history and a blouse sometime during the past two weeks, according to a Barrow County sheriff’s report.

When the deputy asked the woman if she knew anyone who might take the items, she said a ghost or spirt because the ghost of her mother often visits. However, she told the deputy she also occasionally sees a black spirit roaming near her home.

They say it is "to date the best piece of footage we have ever captured."

We do see movement in the doorway, especially in the enhanced version, but is this something anomalous or floating dust, etc. picked up by the infrared camera?

I think it's of sufficient interest to let you view and come to your own conclusions or offer your own suggestions.

Mysterious Mars bunny rabbit alien. What is it ?? Conspiracy ??

What Is It?

Like a rabbit in a hat, the identity of an oddity that looks like "bunny ears" in a picture from Mars has eluded the science and engineering teams. The public, also fascinated with the mysterious object, has asked in a slew of e-mails: What is it?   It is a yellowish object measuring about 4 to 5 centimeters (about 2 inches) long that made its debut when Opportunity's eyes welcomed Earth to a new neighborhood on Mars in her mission success panoramic image. Meridiani Planum is a landscape unlike any other stop on our decades-long tour of the red planet. Still, it wasn't the conspicuous bedrock outcropping near the horizon that initially fascinated many people. It was the "bunny ears."

Temporarily sharing a large workroom in the building that houses rover mission control, engineers were still meticulously reconstructing the events of entry, descent and landing and scientists were anxiously poring over the pictures their most recently successful twin was returning.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A Sacramento man scanning the night sky caught a sudden burst of light through his telescope. He recorded that strange sight with his smart phone.

CBS13 shared the video with experts to see if they could solve the mystery.

This mysterious little tale begins earlier this week when Good Day Sacramento’s Cody Stark got this message on Facebook: “I have something on video no one has ever seen. I had my telescope out, caught an explosion in space. Wanna see the video?”

Cody’s response? Absolutely!

The video was shot with an iPhone through the eyepiece of a telescope, so CBS13 had to enlarge it to get a better look. It was shot on Dec. 20 around 5 p.m. in Sacramento by viewer Elijah Prychodzko.

“I saw something that I’d never seen before. I saw another object orbiting this — whatever it was up there, and I’ve never seen anything like that before,” said Prychodzko.

He thought it was a little strange so he put his phone down, called his nephew, and then returned to shoot a second video clip.

“Oh my God, it just blew up. Something blew up,” he’s heard saying on the video.

Texas Willacy County Courthouse still haunted

Like many old buildings, there are stories about how the Willacy County Courthouse might be haunted.
Jessie Garza, who works in the auditor’s office, doesn’t pay much attention to such stories.
“I work for months here late at night, trying to get out reports,” she said. “Sometimes I leave at 1 a.m. I’ve never seen anything.”

Yet she’s heard talk about the long-abandoned jail on the third floor.

“I’ve heard people say they hear chairs being shoved around upstairs,” she said.

County Judge John F. Gonzales Jr. notes there is a grand jury room on the third floor that is still in use. Still, there are stories going around.

“I’ve heard people say they see shadows, like someone going down the hallway,” Garza said. “But me, personally, no, I haven’t seen anything like that.”

During a recent tour of the old jail on the third floor, the county judge pointed to a gallows, with a large metal ring on the ceiling where a hangman’s noose was once attached.

Mysterious UFO filmed during US flight (video)

A weird, "fist" shaped UFO was caught on video by a passenger on a flight from New York City to Houston on Dec. 19.

The unidentified flying object does not appear to be a reflection from inside the cabin and changes shape, even disappearing suddenly, during the startling two-minute video posted to YouTube on Thursday, Dec. 27.

The YouTube channel owner writes that the video has been forwarded to the FAA for analysis and asks for patience as the object is studied.

According to an article published by Ghost Theory on Thursday, Mauricio Ruiz states, "The actual footage in its original content was sent to the FAA for further review. UFOlogist and investigators please be patient. Let FAA do their review in fairness to all. Thanks."
