Scary Christmas Legends and Merry Xmas from everyone at National Paranormal

Here in the United States, the majority of the population celebrates Christmas and waits for Santa Claus to deliver gifts on Dec. 24.

However, some of the legends of other countries may seem a bit...well, terrifying.
One of my favorites is Krampus — the anti-Santa.

A legend in German folklore, Krampus is a beast-like creature that contrasts St. Nicholas who rewards well-behaved children with gifts, similar to our Santa Claus.

Parents would threaten naughty children that Krampus would visit them on Dec. 5, throw them in a sack and carry them away to his lair.

Iceland has a few particularly frightening myths including Jolakotturinn — the Yule Cat or Christmas Cat — and Gryla, an Icelandic ogress.

For many Icelandic families, those who finish their work on time receive new clothes at Christmas, but the lazy ones do not. To encourage children to work hard, parents would tell the tale of the Yule Cat.

Haunted House for Sale in Dunmore, Pennsylvania sounds sweet

Here is an interesting ad for a home for sale in Dunmore, PA, which is only slightly haunted. and at a reasonable price. The home also has secret doors to a hidden room, which I think is cool in itself. To see the full ad, click on the link at the bottom of full article.

Description

Built in 1901, this Victorian home in the Hollywood section of Dunmore features 1850 sf of living space with an additional 1350 sf of partially finished space. Original hardwood floors throughout entire home. 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms. Off-street parking. Freshly painted. New moulding throughout entire first floor.

Slightly haunted. Nothing serious, though. e.g. The sounds of phantom footsteps. A strange knocking sound followed by a very quiet (hardly noticeable, even) scream at 3:13am, maybe once a week. Twice a week, tops. And the occasional ghastly visage lurking behind you in the bathroom mirror. Even still, this occurs very rarely and only in the second floor bathroom.

First floor features: Large living room with an open staircase, stainglass window and a large picture window. Large dining room with bay windows. A study/library with another stainglass window and a secret door behind a moving bookcase which leads into a small office.

Ghost caught on CCTV camera in UK restaurant (video)

They’ve been off our screens for a good few years now, but maybe it’s time paranormal investigators Mulder and Scully returned... to investigate a Luton X-File.

It could be a spook-tacular prank, but staff at Jimmy’s World Grill & Bar in the town centre – and their head office – assure me they’ve been left scratching their heads by unexplained activity at their restaurant.

CCTV footage they’ve sent me suggests that a poltergeist is on the loose. About 50 seconds into the clip, a chair appears to move on its own. Then a napkin flies up in the air, a menu shifts a bit, and cutlery and a plate fly off the left edge of the table.

Manager Rehan Anwar said: “The incident was brought to my attention by a customer who was sitting a few tables away and heard a loud crash.

“When she turned around there was no body sat at the table which baffled her. I instantly went over to the table where the incident had taken place to find a broken plate and cutlery on the floor. I didn’t think too much of it at the time but when talking to the staff about it a couple of days later they joked about it being a ghost.

“Then someone suggested looking at the CCTV on the closest camera to see if that table was covered. It was.

High ghost hunters burned down historic Louisiana Plantation (video)

A group of ghost hunters have confessed to burning down the historic LaBeau Plantation. Joshua Allen, 20, Kevin Barbe, 20, Joshua Briscoe 20, Dusten Davenport, 31, Joseph Landin, 20, and Bryon Meek, 29, and an unnamed 17-year-old, were arrested on Saturday. The seven men were charged with a variety of crimes ranging from arson to criminal trespassing.

All seven men were arraigned on Monday. Judge Perry Nicosia set their bonds between $75,000 and $450,00. Authorities said the men admit breaking in to the plantation on Friday evening to smoke marijuana, drink alcohol, and look for ghosts. St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said the ghost hunters eventually made “a conscious decision” to burn down the LaBeau Plantation.

The historic plantation is located in Arabi, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The home was built by Franciose Barthelemy LeBeau in 1851. It took three years to finish construction of the sixteen-room home. Although LeBeau passed away within months of the home’s completion, it remained in the family for the next 50 years.
